Our Standards

Standards for Show Me Grass-fed Products

At Show Me Grass-fed, we take pride in offering nutrient-dense, ethically raised meats. All producers in our network adhere to these strict standards to ensure the highest quality for you and your family:

1. Regeneratively Raised

Our farms prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable ecosystems. Livestock are raised using adaptive grazing or pastured systems that restore the land and improve its productivity for future generations.

2. No Unnecessary Antibiotics

We prioritize preventative care to promote animal health and reduce the need for antibiotics. If treatment is necessary for the welfare of the animal, it must be disclosed and result in the animal being excluded from our product offerings for at least 12 months.

3. No Hormones

We do not use added hormones or growth promotants of any kind in our animals.

4. Species-Specific Diets

  • Ruminant Animals (beef, lamb, goats): Grass-fed and grass-finished only, with no grain supplements.
  • Chickens and Pigs: Fed a non-GMO diet that meets their nutritional needs while allowing for natural foraging behaviors.

5. Adaptive Grazing Management

Our farms use rotational or mob grazing practices to mimic natural grazing patterns, improve soil health, and promote regrowth. Pastures are strategically rested to build soil organic matter and maintain forage diversity.

6. Forage Diversity

Ruminants graze on pastures planted with diverse species, including clovers, legumes, and native grasses, which improve both animal nutrition and soil fertility.

7. No Confined Feeding

Animals are raised entirely on pasture, with access to shelter when needed, and are never confined to feedlots.

8. Transparency and Traceability

Every cut of meat can be traced back to the farm and practices that produced it. We believe customers have the right to know where their food comes from.

9. Ethical Animal Treatment

Animals are raised in environments that allow natural behaviors, with ample space, access to fresh air, clean water, and stress-free handling.

10. Water Conservation Practices

Farmers manage livestock access to water sources to protect riparian zones, prevent erosion, and maintain water quality.
